4 month well check (kinda)

This is our new way of trying to get some sleep at night. For some reason Karsyn and Kennedy don't like to go to sleep at night (at least when we want them to), therefore Logan won't go to sleep either. Lately Kurt has been laying down with Logan and Karsyn in Logan's bed after Karsyn eats, while I lay in bed with Kennedy until she falls asleep enough to lay her down. Luckily for us once the girls are all asleep they stay that way and usually don't wake up until around 5:00 or 6:00 to eat, and then Logan sleeps in until about 9:00!!

Well Karsyn and Kennedy went to the doctor today for their 4 month well check visit. Karsyn weight is now 7 lbs 1 oz and about 19.5 inches long! Kennedy is now 4 lbs 9 oz and about 17 inches! Both girls got their second round on immunizations and have pretty much been zonked out at home ever since.

Ok all you mothers, I am in desperate need for some advice! While Logan is doing really well with the girls home and is so much help to me, she is also deciding that she wants to be a baby. She is starting to wet and poop her pants again and when she does she will go upstairs and put on a diaper. Sometimes after she does it she throws a massive fit and won't want a diaper! I know that she is wanting more attention and this is probably her way of doing it but I don't know if I should just let her deal with it and move out of the phase on her own, or if we should put her back in pull ups??? I want to do what is best for her but at the same time I also don't want to have to worry about her going to friends houses or outside without peeing! HELP, if anyone has been through this once having a baby or knows what to do let me know!

3 weeks home!

Well it is near impossible to get a toddler and two babies to all look good in a picture so none of these pictures are that great but, what do you do right! It has been three weeks since the girls have been home and we are really starting to adjust to our new life. Most of our days consist of sleeping, eating, playing outside, when its not too hot, and then of course many doctors appointments! Karsyn is doing great and is growing bigger and bigger, now weighing about 6 lbs 13 oz (that was last Tuesday so I am sure it is more now even) and is really getting the hang of eating also. We all thought when we left the NICU that Karsyn would be our relaxed, easy going gal...wrong. Karsyn seems to be a little more demanding right now, she is figuring out real fast that people can hold her all day long, if she demands it anyway! Most of the time she is really good but she gets demanding very fast so she keeps me on my toes! We just adore her and have loved to see her progress and she is even started smiling a lot at us and is really tons of fun! Kennedy, our little angel, is also trying so hard to get bigger. Right now (as of last Friday) she only weighs 4lbs 2oz,coming down from 4lbs 4oz last Tuesday. We turned her oxygen down a little and she seemed to be doing just fine and then when she lost weight the doctor thought she was having to work too hard still so he turned her back up a little bit and also has her taking a 22 calorie formula every other feeding to kick her into gear! Kennedy was such a little "spitfire" in the NICU and we really thought we were going to be in for it with her, we were wrong. Kennedy is so sweet and is so good to be the one to wait if I am with one of her sisters. She is fiesty when she needs to be but so patient and calm most of the time! Today we went to Primary Children's Hospital to see a cardiologist for her "heart tumors". The last echocardiogram that she had (in the hospital) there appeared to be about 5-6 "tumors" in her heart that they have been watching for the last while. In todays echo there was only 2 tumors there and the others probably just absorbed. Kennedy was so good for all the exams,she just laid there for like an hour for the echo, never putting up any fight and then had two other tests that she just cooperated so good for. The reason I put tumors in "" is because even the doctors don't know for sure what they are. The doctor today after getting another echo, a chest x-ray, and an EKG isn't convinced that they are tumors, they are just "somethings"! Anyway the plan right now is just to keep watching them and make sure they don't break off or get any bigger because right now she isn't seemed to be effected by them. I am sure this is more info than you all need but, oh well. We are all doing really good especially Logan who just loves her sisters so much and is such a big help. Thanks to everyone who has helped us so much since we have been home, especially my mom who has been to every appointment to help me. Three kids, oxygen and apnea monitor, and a diaper bag and purse becomes a lot to handle!

Lagoon 2008

My sister Lacey and her husband Lance and their kids Elliott and Rya were in town from Vegas this last week and we have done a bunch of fun stuff including going to Lagoon. Lance's mom worked at there a few days this summer and was able to get us some discount tickets...thanks Gaylene! As you can see Elliott and Logan had a great time together. Lacey and Lance were nice enough to take Logan in the morning with my mom, Hailey and Makinlee while I stayed home with Kennedy and Karsyn. She had a such a fun day and then at night Kurt and I met everyone there while my mom stayed home with the girls...thanks mom I know that is a big task! Logan was then able to go on rides with daddy! Every year Lagoon gets more and more fun for Logan and as you can see, Lagoon is moving up also, they finally painted the boats!

Mommy's Girls

Well the girls have now almost been home for two weeks and are doing great! We went to the doctor today and they both gained 3 more ounces. Karsyn is 6lbs 13 oz and Kennedy is 4 lbs 4oz!

OK, I must be really retarted because I can't figure out this blogging thing. Does anyone know how to post the pictures in random places? You know when you go and put in your pictures it asks if you want them down the center or to the left or right...how do you put them where you want instead of in a line??? I have seen some people that have done some cool stuff with the pictures and I can't figure it out. If you know please let me know your secret, thanks!

Even though Logan (and Kurt) look like they weren't having the best time, they had so much fun at the Bees game the other day. Kurt took Logan with his brother Scott, Brooke, Jake, Karlee, and grandpa Chuck to the SLC Bees game last Sunday and Kurt said Logan would just follow the Bee around and when he finally came over to see them,she pulled this face! Kurt said she had a lot of fun!

4th of July

We spent the 4th of July at my grandma's house,like most years, with Hailey, Clay, Makinlee, my sisters and mom and dad. Clay and Kurt did a fireworks "show" for us before the Lagoon fireworks that we always watch from my grandma's grass.
(Ignore the goofy smile) Logan was a little scared of the "noisy" fireworks so she had to sit on my lap far away.

Settling In

Well we are starting to settle in to our new life with the girls home. As you can see they are doing well and are so dang cute! Kennedy is still quite smaller than Karsyn but isn't she just the cutest baby you have ever seen-oxygen and all. Most of our days consist of sleeping and eating with our occasional playing!

Karsyn is starting to be a little more awake,but still sleeps most the day away.

Logan would hold the girls all day if she could. She is really starting to love them being home.This outfit that Karsyn is wearing for the 4th of July only was on her for about 1 minute before I changed her into the outfits they are in below because it was so big on her. For a second I thought that she was big?!?!

They really like laying on the ground and just hanging out,probably because that is mostly what they did for the last 3 months of their lives. They are very much aware of each other, it is so cute. (Look at that chubby belly on Karsyn, hanging over her pants!!!)

The girls new bed!

Here are a few pictures of the twins in their new home and bed! I thought it was so funny to see them because every time we would look at them they would look the same. We would look at them one time and their hands would be over their heads and then the next time (you can see in the second pose) they had one hand up and the other out, and they looked exactly the same! They are so dang cute and we are so excited to finally have them home. We would love to have friends and family visit. Again though, if you are going to come over,expect to wash your hands and please don't come if you are at all sick. We are not willing to take a change withe getting these girls sick, and back in the hospital. Thank you all for all your love and support, the girls will appreciate it one day!

Going Home

This picture was right before we left after rooming in at the hospital that night before. They have you stay in the "bonding room" the night before you take your babies home, especially if they go home on any monitors or oxygen. There is still a nurse that checks on you and you have to write down each time you feed them or change their diapers, but other than that you are on your own. I hadn't tried nursing very much before this night, but I decided that we would try. They both nursed very well, most of the time at the same time. We didn't get much sleep, kinda like when you just have your baby and you are still in the hospital normally. Karsyn decided she wanted to stay awake most of the night, just to hang out so I was up most of the night. Kennedy was really good, she slept most of the night except to eat.

"Grandpa Simmons" This is a picture of Dr Simmons,one of the girls 3 doctors. Dr Simmons was such an amazing man and doctor and we really became pretty close. He cared so much for the girls, especially Kennedy. There were many times that he would stay at the hospital all night long with Kennedy just to make sure she was going to be OK. He bonded very much with the girls and was very sad to see them go. He was so cute though, he was the one that discharged us that morning and he would keep coming in and telling us more and more stuff that we need to remember. He wanted to make sure his girls were going to be taken care of. We will really miss him and will forever be in debt to him for all his love, hard work, and dedication to our girls and their survival.

Simmons walked out with us to the car, pulling them in the wagon. We had Simmons, a few nurses, Kurt and me, and then a cart full of stuff all parading down the halls. I think Simmons only ran over a few toes. And as you can see,the girls weren't big fans of their car seats, but once we got driving they were zonked out!

Last Day in the NICU
